In an election year, employees will inevitably engage in political discussion and even polarizing debates, but regulating employee speech can be problematic. While there are legitimate reasons to prohibit speech that interferes with the work environment and an employer’s business, regulating employee speech has its pitfalls. Certain speech in (and outside) of the workplace may be protected. This presentation will help you understand the laws governing speech in the workplace and develop compliant policies and practices.

Elizabeth Chilcoat
