Driving the Strategic Agenda: Fighting Fraud and Embracing Emerging Technology

Financial executives have the opportunity to play an outsized role in setting the strategic agenda for their companies, beyond traditional fiduciary responsibilities.  Strategic financial executives are defenders of the enterprise, sources of cost savings and efficiency gains, and drivers of market differentiation.  In order to do this, executives need to be well versed in three areas: fraud, automation, and emerging technology, such as real-time payments.

Margarita Vacanti, Senior Vice President of Commercial Payments, KeyBank

I have a passion for managing teams, inspiring them to stretch beyond formal goals to become enthusiastic, engaged professionals who bring their best selves to their career every day.

In my current position, I'm tackling the banking industry transformation to become technology providers to middle market business customers. As the sales and client services manager for KeyBank's rocky mountain region, I manage a team that works with middle market businesses to deliver efficiencies in accounts payable, accounts receivable and core treasury management. We help our clients assess and reshape their operations, while proactively managing their financial assets to drive the highest yield.

My consulting background and IT Services marketing and business development experience have been a tremendous asset to my current position. I previously managed NTT DATA Services' North America financial services & insurance (FSI) industry marketing programs, including industry-specific solution and content marketing, thought leadership programs, business development, industry conference presence, and sales enablement. Prior to NTT DATA, my Accenture tenure included Banking and Financial Services business development and consulting experience in project delivery, project and program management and client account management.

I have enjoyed every phase of my 17 years of business development, content marketing, and professional services experience across the financial services & insurance, telecommunications, and high tech industries.

I'm also co-founder of Vacanti Wine Glasses LLC, makers of the Spirale Wine Glass.
