Understanding Environmental Risk 

Presenter: Ted Tomasi, VP of National Practices, Cardno 

Dr. Ted Tomasi has more than 30 years of experience as a professional economist. He has specialized in the valuation of natural resources and environmental change, and in assessing the impacts of risk and uncertainty on the value and use of natural resources. His experience has been gained as a professor at the Universities of Minnesota, Michigan and Delaware, and at Michigan State University. Dr. Tomasi he has been a consultant to international agencies, industrial clients, and state and federal governments. He has administered numerous research grants and consulting contracts, and has provided litigation support and expert testimony on natural resource values in several cases.

Dr. Tomasi also is recognized as a global expert in damage assessment. His experience includes assignments for state and federal trustees (plaintiffs) as well as responsible parties (defendants). He has employed both restoration-based and monetary evaluations. He has been involved in highly successful cooperative/collaborative assessments for both oil spills and contaminated sites, and has provided expert testimony and litigation support in NRD litigation. He has worked on human use issues as well as ecological issues, and scaled restoration using HEA and REA at a number of sites, for a number of substances, and in a number of ecological systems.
